Eyelid surgery

WHY IS EYELID SURGERY USEFULL?

The first signs of aging can often be seen near the eyelids. You can see eyebrows that are starting to droop (called eye ptosis) and crows’ feet next to the top eyelid. Bags under the eyes start to form along with any excess wrinkles. Both phenomena make you look tired. Eyelid surgery is the kind of cosmetic surgery or aesthetic surgery that can be a good help in this case. It becomes more and more popular to do eye surgery abroad.

EYELID SURGERY FOR TOP EYELIDS

Treatment: Blepharoplastie with or without eyebrow lifting.

This operation can take place under local anaesthesia with or without sedation (sleep) and takes approximately 1 hour. First of all, the incisions to be made are drawn with a marker by the plastic surgeon while you are standing. Then, the upper eyelid will be numbed and the skin will be removed with a CO2 laser. This method causes little blood loss and very little bruising afterwards. A small sack of fat will also be removed from the inner eyelid during eyelid surgery.

You will also see that eyebrows often begin to sag at the same time. The eyebrow is then attached to your forehead in its anatomically correct position through the same incision. The wounds are closed using skin glue, which disappears automatically approximately one week after eyelid surgery. There will be no stitches to remove after eylid surgery.

Eyelid surgery after care

Ice will be applied to your eyelids to help prevent post-operative swelling. You can keep applying ice on your eyelids at home for the next 2 or 3 days. You can take a shower the same evening of your surgery.

EYELID SURGERY FOR UNDER EYELIDS

Treatment: Lower Blepharoplastie.

This operation takes place under local anaesthesia with or without sedation (sleep). First of all, the incision line right under the eyelashes is marked. The lower eyelid is then numbed. After making as short an incision as possible, excess fat tissue and skin folds are removed. The wounds are closed with skin glue. There will be no stitches to remove after eyelid surgery.

Eyelid surgery after care

Ice is applied to the lower eyelids immediately after surgery to help prevent post-operative swelling. You can continue applying ice for the first three days at home after eyelid surgery. You can take a shower the same evening after your surgery. The skin glue will dissolve automatically after approximately 10 days.
