Can I have multiple procedures done at the same time?
Whether you can have multiple procedures done at the same time depends on the extent and duration of the procedures, as well as the anatomical regions on which they are performed. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
Will the surgeon prescribe sick leave?
Sick leave is only granted for reconstructive surgery. For aesthetic procedures, you must take the needed days off from work at your own initiative. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
Will my private hospitalization insurance reimburse the costs of plastic surgery?
Private hospitalization insurance will normally only cover reconstructive procedures (i.e. procedures that have a nomenclature code).  These interventions are considered to be non-aesthetic, since they are (partially) reimbursed by the national health insurance. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
When can I start exercising again after surgery?

What is the difference between plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery ?
Plastic surgery is a general term, used for both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes all medically indicated surgical interventions that are reimbursed by the Belgian health insurance (mutuality). Aesthetic surgery includes all surgical interventions for purely aesthetic reasons, which are not reimbursed. Can I take a shower after surgery?
As a basic principle, all surgical wounds are closed on the inside by means of resorbable sutures and glued on the outside with surgical glue. In other words, you can shower the day after surgery provided there are no abnormalities in this department. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
Which procedures are covered by health insurance?
Health insurance pays for all procedures which have is a nomenclature number, or, in short, for all procedures that have a clear medical purpose. Health insurance will not cover procedures that are purely aesthetic. However, reconstruction procedures such as breast reconstruction can be an exception.
